multi-search-engine
Integrates 16 search engines (7 domestic CN, 9 global) for web crawling without API keys, with automatic language detection, rate limiting, and cookie management.
Overview
Multi Search Engine is a powerful integration skill that bundles 16 search engines—7 domestic Chinese engines (Baidu, Bing CN, Sogou, etc.) and 9 global engines (Google, DuckDuckGo, Brave, WolframAlpha, etc.)—into a single workspace. It requires no API keys, handles cookies in-memory, and automatically selects the best engines based on query language for maximum coverage and relevance. Perfect for AI agents that need robust, censorship-resistant web search capabilities.
Key Features
- 16 search engines across domestic and international categories, auto-selected by language
- No API keys or accounts — works through direct HTTP requests with standard browser headers
- Automatic cookie management — cookies are fetched on-demand when access is denied and stored only in memory
- Rate limiting and retry logic — built-in delays between requests and retry mechanism for robustness
- Advanced search operators — supports site:, filetype:, exact match, exclusions, OR, and time filters
How It Works
The AI agent analyzes the search query’s language (Chinese vs. non-Chinese) to choose the appropriate engine pool. It then batches requests using web_fetch (3-4 engines per batch, 1-2 second delay between calls). If an engine returns 403 or 429, cookies are dynamically fetched from the homepage. Results are aggregated into a core search report.
Use Cases
- Market research: Search both Chinese and global sources for comprehensive competitor intelligence
- Academic research: Use time filters and filetype operators to find recent PDF papers or reports
- Privacy-aware searches: DuckDuckGo or Startpage engines for sensitive queries without tracking
